COSSAC

COSSAC

The brand Cossac was founded in 2014 by Agata Natalia Kozak with the idea in mind, that “there must be a better way to do this business of fashion.” Aiming for attractive eco fashion and clothing with a lower environmental impact, the London-based designer’s collections caught my attention during the Ethical Fashion Show fair in Berlin lately this year.

From a perfect white tee to eye-catching statement pieces, each season COSSAC creates a minimal and sleek collection that adapts to the current fashion trends yet remains timeless. Our mission is to promote transparency in the fashion world and to produce quality garments that are sustainable in both manufacture and design, without sacrificing on style.

COSSAC uses various suppliers from UK, India, Tanzania, Turkey and other countries to source the fabrics and produce our eco fashion garments. The list of suppliers is constantly expanding and we make a conscious effort to continue to educate ourselves and improve all manufacturing processes. The majority of fabrics we use are fair trade, organic, recycled or have low environmental impact. In the future we want all material we use to be 100% eco-friendly and are working towards this goal daily.

Production is carried out in the UK and Turkey. We believe in the transparency of the supply chain: apart from using sustainable fabrics, we want to make sure that factory’s employees are working in just conditions and they are not being exploited in any form. Every supplier and factory we work with holds certificates assuring these rules are being followed.

COSSAC operates mainly as an online retailer; we believe this is the most positive approach to eco fashion distribution. Receipts, purchases and delivery details are communicated via email to reduce paper waste. During delivery all packaging and labelling is kept to an extreme minimum. Our business cards, hang-tags and boxes are made from recycled paper and are 100% recyclable.

UTA’s IMPRESSION

The simple universal garments capture a modern and transseasonal style, that enables the customer to establish a sustainable capsule wardrobe for her basic needs. The online shop focus remains on basics like printed t-shirts, but I see the biggest potential of Cossac in the beautiful soft, clean silhouettes of dresses, bodies and overalls as to find in the fresh and inspiring moods of the SS17 Lookbook, shot in Istanbul by Can Sever.
