ANNAMARIAANGELIKA is a brand-new knitwear label based in Berlin, working under the ethic philosophy of giving back meaning and sense for traditions within clothes.
It’s an associated label to the Slow Fashion movement which is gathering more and more members among the fashion world, characterized by the diligent selection of materials, production ways and conditions in combination with a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to garments. Behind the label stands Julia Müller, a designer with a traveler’s heart.
Her launch collection “Each Single Moment’s Soul” tells of these travels which inspire her vast universe of creativity. Combined with her love for traditional craftsmanship she took finest Alpaca wool and the wisdom of traditional Peruvian knitting techniques to refine her products.
Moreover ANNAMARIAANGELIKA uses cotton yarns from overproduction of other companies which are marked leftovers yet still meet the quality standards. Expressive patterns and sensual textures round out the life affirming and positive vibe of her creations, vibes she experienced while traveling through Peru.
“My collection is a tribute to the indigenous peoples of Peru and their land, to the beauty of nature, its multifaceted diversity & traditions of the Peruvian people in harmonious coexistence with nature.”
Peru is also the place where she entirely produces her knitwear starting from the yarn to the final sweater, scarf or beanie. She is working closely with the small knitting company she got to know while traveling there back in 2012 and 2013. With this cooperation the label ensures that the employees get a fair payment in the production cycle and henceforth supports the region.
I had the pleasure to get a short interview with the busy designer, who is currently promoting her kickstarter campaign to make this wonderful label come to life.
If you want to support her on this endeavor go to her kickstarter and grab one of her pieces for a pre-launch price or just simply donate a small amount. We all know that small things can have the biggest impact, so go check it out! It’s up until the 17th of January.
